Peace Council Pays Courtesy Call.
On Thursday, 27th February 2025, the Western North Regional Peace Council paid a courtesy call on the Honourable Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, at the Regional Coordinating Council in Sefwi Wiawso.
The visit was part of the Council’s ongoing stakeholder engagement strategy, aimed at strengthening collaboration with regional leadership to enhance peacebuilding efforts and conflict prevention across the region.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Brentum expressed his gratitude for the visit and commended the Peace Council for its critical role in promoting dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence within the region’s diverse communities.
“I believe that sustainable development can only be achieved in an environment of peace and stability. I appreciate the work you do and assure you of my support as we work together to build a stronger, more united Western North,” he remarked.
The delegation, led by the Regional Chairman of the Peace Council, [Insert Name], briefed the Minister on the Council’s recent activities, which include mediation in local disputes, conflict prevention training, and public education campaigns aimed at reducing tensions in identified flashpoints.
They also discussed the need for closer institutional collaboration, particularly in addressing issues related to land disputes, chieftaincy tensions, and youth violence—all of which have the potential to disrupt social cohesion if left unresolved.
The Peace Council requested logistical and moral support from the RCC to expand its outreach and community engagement efforts. In response, Hon. Brentum assured the Council of the Regional Coordinating Council’s readiness to provide necessary backing, and encouraged continued proactive engagement at the grassroots level.
The visit concluded with a reaffirmation of mutual commitment to peace, security, and development in the Western North Region.
