16DAYS OF ACTIVISM 2023
16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence is an annual International Day that kicks off on 25th November to 10th December. It highlights violence against females as a pervasive breach of Human Rights globally.
On 7th December, the Department of Gender engaged two Junior High schools and Persons with Disability in the Region’s Capital; Sefwi Wiawso to crown the activity. The schools engaged were Old Adiembra M/A JHS with sixty- eight students which comprised of twenty-three (23) Girls and forty-five (45) boys and Kesekrom Anglican JHS, One Hundred and seven (107) students were in attendance, this was made up of fifty-five (55) girls and fifty-two (52) boys. The Department also joined the meeting of the Western North Federation of the Persons with Disability meeting. In attendance were thirty- nine participants; nineteen females and twenty males. All participants were sensitized on the importance of the celebration, forms of violence, where to seek redress and menstrual hygiene.
