Development Projects Must Improve Lives — Western North Minister Urges Assemblies
SEFWI WIAWSO — Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, has urged Municipal and District Assemblies (M/DAs) in the region to prioritise people-centred development projects that improve living conditions and bring essential services closer to residents.
“When people realise that infrastructure and service delivery are being improved to bring development to their doorsteps and better their lives, they appreciate the efforts of the District Assemblies and readily cooperate with and support such initiatives,” he said.
The Minister made the remarks on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, when he joined the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sefwi Wiawso, Hon. Dominic Gyasi, on an inspection tour of ongoing and completed projects funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).
He commended the Assembly for its commitment to the government’s Resetting Agenda, led by President John Dramani Mahama, noting that the projects demonstrated efforts to extend development to communities across the municipality.
Hon. Brentum said the quality and progress of the projects reflected the Assembly’s commitment to providing durable infrastructure and essential services to improve residents’ wellbeing.
The inspection covered a completed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Kojina-Essakrom, a 24-hour economy model market under construction at Sefwi Asawinso, and a CHPS compound at Kateboi, which was 60 per cent complete.
The Minister also inspected completed three-unit classroom blocks at Nyameadae and Pewodie, a six-unit classroom block at Sefwi Dwenase Methodist, which was 75 per cent complete, and a modern maternity block at Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital.
Other projects visited included a completed kindergarten block and office at Sefwi Kwasi Addaekrom.
He praised the MCE and the Assembly’s technical team for their commitment to implementing development projects and urged them to sustain their efforts to improve public infrastructure and service delivery.
Before the tour, the Minister interacted with staff of the Municipal Assembly, encouraging heads of departments, units and government agencies to work collaboratively and apply their technical expertise to the planning and implementation of development programmes.
He further urged public servants to work diligently and leave a positive and lasting impact on the communities they serve.
The Chief Director of the Western North Regional Coordinating Council, Madam Jemima Lomotey, was among the dignitaries who accompanied the Minister.
The inspection provided an opportunity to assess project progress and quality while reaffirming the commitment of regional and municipal authorities to improving infrastructure and service delivery in the municipality.
