Western North RCC Engages Stakeholders on Proposed Bibiani Underground Mining Project.
The Western North Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC) has held a stakeholder engagement with Asante Gold Bibiani Limited on a proposed underground mining project in the region.
The meeting, held on Friday, 10th April 2026 at the Western North Regional Co-ordinating Council, aimed to support the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), a key requirement for regulatory approval of the project.
Representatives from Environmental Advisory and Services Group Ltd (EASGL) outlined the scope of the environmental studies to be undertaken. These include the collection of baseline data as well as the identification and assessment of potential social and environmental impacts associated with the project.
In his remarks, the Regional Minister, Hon. Wilbert Petty Brentum, emphasized the importance of responsible mining practices and strict adherence to environmental regulations to safeguard communities and natural resources. The Regional Co-ordinating Director, Pln. Joseph K. Baah-Darkoh, also assured stakeholders of the Council’s full support for a transparent and inclusive assessment process.
The engagement concluded with a collective commitment from all parties to sustain stakeholder consultations throughout the next phase of the project’s environmental assessment process.
